Vertical Agri-PV: A solution for current challenges in the energy transition
Heiko Hildebrandt is a pioneer in the field of renewable energy and one of the driving forces behind the development of vertical bifacial Agri-Photovoltaics (Agri-PV). As founder and CEO of Next2Sun, he has played a key role in advancing innovative solar technologies that combine sustainable energy generation with agricultural land use.
Under his leadership, Next2Sun has become an internationally recognized technology leader in vertical bifacial photovoltaic systems, contributing to more efficient renewable energy production while supporting sustainable land management and the energy transition. With extensive experience in renewable energy innovation, energy infrastructure, and sustainable development, Heiko Hildebrandt brings valuable insights into the future of Agri-PV, climate-friendly technologies, and the evolving energy landscape.

Haslachhof in Löffingen
The Haslachhof in Löffingen: sustainable agriculture, energy generation, and biodiversity based on circularity
Wolfram Wiggert (47 years old, married, 2 children), leads the family farm “Haslachhof” in Löffingen, which transitioned to organic (Bioland) production in 2003, and comprises several innovative renewable energy installations. Wolfram Wiggert graduated 2007 as an agricultural engineer at the University of Applied Sciences in Nürtingen, and took over the farm from his father in 2012. Since 2019, he is also the fire brigade specialist advisor for biogas in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and a member of the municipal council in Löffingen.
The Haslachhof is located 650–900 m above sea level and comprises 370 ha arable land and 140 ha grassland, with 35 Hinterwald suckler cows for the utilization of conservation meadows. On the renewable energy side, the farm is equipped with a 500 kW biogas plant with gas storage and up to 2.5 MW flexible output, with complete direct marketing of the electricity and 100% heat utilization in the Löffingen local district heating network. Since 2025, the farm has 11 ha of Agrivoltaics systems. The farm also takes part in research projects and networks such as the Furtwangen University project “Biogas Digital Twin”, the RP Freiburg and IFAB Institute “Wild Bee Project”, is active in the propagation of arable wild herbs, nature-positive agriculture (www.naturpositiv.de), and a HumusKlimaNetz – member farm. His farm’s aim is to integrate health-promoting foods, humus-building soil management, the creation of biodiversity and habitats, climate cooling, and regenerative, system-serving energy generation. In the talk, Wolfram Wiggert will report on his farm’s renewable energy systems, in particular the newly installed agrivoltaics and the flexible biogas plant and storage.
