In this context we would like to stress that it is not advisable to come to Germany for university studies, if you do not have a secure source of funding. You should calculate between 16700 € and 20300 € for the entire programme (registration fees inclusive).
Cost of Studying
Registration fee: 125 Euro per semester
No tuition fees!
Cost of Living
The monthly cost of living in Freiburg amounts to approximately 700-800 €, including the following examples to give you an idea of how much certain things cost:
Health insurance (if not covered by family insurance)
Transportation (with semester ticket)
Spare time activities/language course/other
As nor the Centre for Renewable Energy (ZEE), nor the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources is currently able to offer scholarships for REM students, candidates should apply for funding from foundations and/or inform themselves about job opportunities on- or off-campus.
DAAD -scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service)
Most foreign students receive a scholarship from the DAAD. The application for a scholarship must be submitted to a DAAD office or the German embassy in the applicant’s home country. Generally, the whole application process – as it is the case for most of the foundations - may last up to one year. Therefore, it is important that you plan ahead.
